I've been busy. Mostly working, and a little bit of other stuff. I have been taking more photos lately--surprisingly, on my IPhone. If you know me at all, you can probably recall how much of a purist I was back in the day when it came to photography. Well, my tune has changed a bit. While I still love the old methods, I have come to appreciate the new directions that photography has taken. It is clunky, carrying around a camera. My phone is with me all the time, at work, at home, when I'm out. No more missed opportunities. I think also that the great improvements to camera phone technology have helped me to really appreciate the medium. So, without further ado, here's my life in photos since I haven't blogged...
My Inflammatory Writ
Be careful not to say anything too final. Whatever is unsure is possible, and life is bigger than flesh. Beyond reach of thought let imagination figure your hope. That will be generous to me and to yourselves. Why settle for some know-it-all's despair when the dead may dance to the fiddle.

Pictures of Success
I haven't blogged in a while. And I probably won't blog again in a long time either. (I don't like to make empty promises) I guess I'm just bored today. I went to the beach, in hopes of tanning my white legs, and reading Moliere, but the sky was slightly overcast, inviting swarms of mosquitos to harass me. So I left.

"I asked the Lord for a handful, and He gave me a bushel." --JCB II
What a week it has been.
On February 6, 2012, in the dark of night, Holly Grace was born. Two weeks overdue, and 10 lbs 7 oz, she didn't make it easy for mummy. Her Aunty Dee loves her.
Fourteen hours later, upon receiving news of her birth, Holly's Great Opa, John Cornelius Bakker, passed on to be with his heavenly father.
It's been a whirlwind of emotion, filled with smiles, tears, family, and friends.

Run Rabbit Run!
So two nights ago, my van got broken into. Well, I guess not technically broken into, since I left it unlocked. They rummaged through the glove compartment, pulled out all the ash trays, and dumped out my first aid kit. Unfortunately for them, the only things they could steal were orange boxes and a bail of twine....oh yeah, and a really nice stick.
Once I realized what had happened I was a little frightened. It's scary to think that someone had been searching through my property. After about 20 minutes of that, I began to think of how frustrating it must have been to finally find an unlocked vehicle, and then not find a CENT. I laughed. Just last week, my sister-in-law was driving with me and questioned why I didn't lock the doors when we went into the store. "Someone would have to be stupid to steal something from in there," was my reply, "plus I think if I locked the doors, I might not be able to unlock them."
So, sorry Mr. Robber, that I didn't have money for you. Maybe next time do you think you could put everything back neatly where you found it...

We're Gonna Bring A Case Of Wine
It's about that time of year. The time of year when I start getting bummed about being stuck inside, and missing all my favourite peoples. This time last year, I was planning a beautiful trip to see so many beautiful friends. Unfortunately, I haven't the fortune to finance such a galavant for winter 2012. Maybe y'all should come on over here?
Until then,
Until then,

Life Ain't Nothin' But A Funny Funny Riddle
I have a co-worker who grew up in Iowa. We often reminisce about living there, and all of the great things Iowa has to offer. This week he shared this little gem with me:
Went to the market today with my sister in law. She had never been on the weekend and was thoroughly impressed, mostly excited about the cinnamon buns. I had forgotten how much tastier free-range eggs are, and now refuse to settle for anything else.
It's gorgeous outside. Our grass is still green. I may go for a bike ride.

Boxing Day
Christmas is over. I haven't decided yet if I will go to the store today. They are probably crazy with sales, and I hate shopping. Unfortunately, my phone is on the fritz, and it's time for a new one (you were right all along Mela).
The holidays have been good so far. We celebrate Pakjesavond on the 24th with games and finger food. Living on my own and in poverty, I received many practical gifts that I am very thankful for--socks, underwear, winter boots! Christmas day was spent going to church, visiting grandparents, and having a nice meal. I also took some photos:
One more month and I'll have a little niece or nephew. The first one, and everyone is getting excited.
That's all for now. No work til after New Years, and I've got big plans, BIG PLANS, I tell ya.
